Frequently Asked Questions About Indian Necklaces

What types of necklaces do you offer?

Our necklace collection includes traditional temple jewellery necklaces, Kundan necklaces, chokers, long harams, mango mala (mango-shaped bead designs), antique gold-finish pieces, stone-studded necklaces with kemp and CZ, oxidised silver necklaces, and layered necklace sets. We offer both standalone necklaces and sets with matching earrings.

What necklace length should I choose?

Chokers (14-16 inches) sit close to the neck and suit most necklines. Princess length (17-19 inches) falls at the collarbone - versatile for daily wear. Matinee length (20-24 inches) sits at the bust. Opera/haram length (28-36 inches) creates an elegant layered look. Consider your outfit's neckline and whether you'll layer multiple pieces.

What is a haram?

A haram is a long traditional South Indian necklace, typically 26-36 inches, worn below the bust. Harams often feature elaborate pendants, temple motifs, or intricate bead patterns. They're traditionally worn for weddings and special occasions, often layered with a shorter necklace for the complete bridal look. Our haram collection includes both classic and contemporary designs.

Do your necklaces come with matching earrings?

Many of our necklaces are sold as sets with matching earrings - check the product title and description. We also sell individual pieces if you prefer to mix and match. If you need help coordinating pieces or finding earrings to match a necklace you already own, contact us and we'll assist.

Are the stones in your necklaces real?

Our necklaces feature high-quality CZ (cubic zirconia), kemp stones (synthetic rubies traditionally used in temple jewellery), pearls (both cultured and faux), and coloured glass stones. These materials allow us to offer beautiful traditional designs at accessible prices while maintaining durability. Product descriptions specify the stone types used.

How do I choose a necklace for my saree?

Consider your saree's neckline, colour, and occasion. For high-neck blouses, longer necklaces work best. For deep necklines, chokers or layered looks are flattering. Match gold-toned jewellery with silk sarees and oxidised silver with cotton. For a cohesive look, coordinate with your saree's border or pallu colour. When in doubt, antique gold temple jewellery complements most traditional sarees.

How do I care for my necklace?

Store flat in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box to prevent tangling and scratches. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. Remove before showering, swimming, or applying perfume. Check clasps regularly for secure closure. For stone-studded pieces, avoid pulling or catching on fabrics. With proper care, gold-plated necklaces maintain their beauty for 1-2 years.

What is your return policy for necklaces?

We do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind. If you receive a faulty item, please report it to us immediately and we will exchange it for another product within 5-7 days. Please inspect your necklace upon delivery and contact us at shop@shreesfashion.com.au right away if you notice any defects.
